Domaine Drouhin Lauréne Pinot Noir 2004
The 2004 Laurène is vibrantly seductive with aromas of fresh cherry & red berry, and a floral mix of cherry blossoms and rose petals. These sensations follow through on the palate, with added clove and spice character. Firm, layered tannins coat the mouth, but the real stars are the rich, velvety touch and well rounded, perrsistent finish. As the Laurène opens up, hints of blue fruit, cola & fresh undergrowth emerge. Similar to 2001 and '93 in finesse and sophistication, the 04 Laurène is full of life and promised much in the years to come. Enjoy now, and anytime over the next 8-12 years. Wine Spectator Smooth and round, with a pretty sandalwood note mingling with ripe cherry, toast and spicy oak flavors, deftly balanced to let it all sing while the finish rolls on and on. Best from 2008 through 2014. 2,550 cases made. Score: 92. —Harvey Steiman, December 31, 2007. |
