Achaval Ferrer Quimera 2003
In the glass the color is dense, very dark. The nose is powerful, with fruit notes like dark cherries, and blueberries, made complex by a minerality that reminds me of scalded rocks, and also spices like oregano and thyme. The mouth is sweet and round, and confirms the notes of fruits and minerals. The grape tannins, dense and harmonic, are perfectly integrated with the oak. The finish extends itself in a mature acidity that keeps the wine elegant despite its size. Wine Spectator Really juicy red, with raspberry, red currant and boysenberry fruit flavors mixed with racy mineral, briar and floral notes. Long, mouthwatering finish brings you back for more. Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2008. 4,966 cases made. Score: 92. —James Molesworth, September 30, 2005. |
