Elderton Shiraz 2003
Colour: Dark purple, bright magenta hues. Nose: Blood plums, a touch of vanilla. Palate: Classic Elderton, showing rich ripe plums, chocolate and vanilla. Big and luscious, yet very soft and generous. Ageing: Enjoy now or 5-10 years. Food: Richly flavoured meats, game or mature cheddars. Wine Advocate The 2003 Shiraz Barossa boasts a dense purple color, aromas of creme de cassis, asphalt, smoke, and earth, well-integrated, sweet, toasty oak, and a big, full-bodied, concentrated personality. Great fruit, huge body, sweet tannin, and a long finish suggest it should hit its peak in 2-4 years, and last for 12-15. Score: 91. —Robert Parker, October 31, 2005. |
